Original Civil War EraUS M1841 Mississippi Rifle Type I Socket Bayonetw/Leather Scabbard - Socket is Marked: E. 56 - Very NICE Condition - RARE

Up for sale is an Original Civil War EraUS Army M1841 Type I Socket Bayonet for the M1841 Mississippi Rifle. The blade and socket are in Very NICE Condition. No markings on the blade. The socket is marked: E. 56, see photo. Some minor discoloration on the socket & the blade. A few surface pits on the socket and locking ring, see photos. The bayonet is 22 7/8\" overall length, with a 3\" socket with a 0.902\" bore, 19 7/8\" blade and 18\" face flute. Also included is a Leather Scabbard. This scabbard features the early sewn frog and belt loop. The leather is soft and supple. Some minor surface cracking on the leather frog. The tip of the scabbard is closed with a rivet. This scabbard may be a mid-20th century reproduction. Please make your own best judgement regarding the scabbard.

This bayonet will fit the Model 1841 Mississippi Rifle-Musket with the Drake Alteration.
