It\'s more common to find fragments of Parrott shells. This is in exceptional condition considering it having been buried 150+ years! Superb addition to your collection!

Overall, a pretty solid artillery shell excavated in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. It\'s likely from the Battle of Missionary Ridge / Chattanooga.

Diameter: 2.88\" originally 2.87\"

Length : Approximately 8 1/2\" (originally 9\")

Gun: M1863 3\" 10-pounder Parrott rifle

The shell is pretty pitted. Fuse threads are present, but there is a chip in the top rim. The base is dented. Any markings that may have been present are no longer readable without restoration. I made no attempt to restore or clean it and will leave it up to the purchaser.
