French gladius style short sword with leather and brass scabbard, in good condition. These are the swords that the US short artillery swords are patterned on. This example is in nice shape. The blade is full length and has original finish showing, but has begun to darken. It is well marked with matching numbers, as well as a factory correction on the other side. It fits tightly to the hilt with no wiggle. The hilt is in near perfect shape and has a mellow brass patina. Scabbard has shrunk a bit over the past 100 years, but is still soft and pliable. These particular swords have been dug in both confederate and union camps. Shipping to the lower 48 states only.
