The Marquise de Paiva was a famous courtesan of the second empire who led an elegant and luxurious life in her private townhouse on the Champs Elysee and who ordered all of her silver from Christofle. This lovely Marquise de Paiva \"Coupelle\" fruit bonbonierre is a faithful reproduction of her original Art Nouveau piece which is on display in the Bouilhet Christofle museum in France. With a wide bowl and beautifully detailed handle or stem, it may be used not only as a berry or candy dish or bowl, but also as a serving spoon. Still cellophane-wrapped this vintage piece measures 6 5/8\" x 4\". Marked Christofle France.
