This Carbon Fiber fountain pen features an irridium Schmidt fine nib from Germany and was a hard sell for the salesperson,due to the fact that this is a store brand pen that I wrongly assumed was from China.

The store\'s manager kept trying to get this pen into my hand, and I was thankful for her persistence.

China; for all its manufacturing prowess could not produce this quality of depth in their carbon Fibre at that time, their attempts were borderline acceptable, but not up close, and definitely not with the subtlety and depth of this design.

From across the room or in very flat lighting, this pen looks like any fine executive pen, but for those seated nearby, it draws interesting responses, as the carbon fiber subtleties peer through its surface coating as the incident light level changes.

It\'s very unique and nearly impossible to show while photographing, but I think I was able to get the point across (no pun intended).

It\'s modern, but conservative, look, suitable for board room, office, or classroom daily use, but I had other purposes when I acquired this gem of a pen, read on...

I carried this pen on a daily basis to accompany one of my more expensive pens for two reasons.

First, it\'s irridium nib was forgiving, even when signing documents printed on cheap laserjet paper, or poor quality papers that produce a lot of dust and small fibers that could clog a fine or extra fine nib.

I provided a photo (see last photo) showing just how much clogging this nib/feeder system can sustain and still give reasonable performance.

Clogged nibs from low quality paper use, never much worry with this fine point, this pen easily cleans up without a massive flush and refill.

The second reason, was that those frequently requesting that they borrow your pen often dont understand how to use a fountain pen properly, and failing to find the proper angle for ink flow, believe they have to bear down on the nib, thereby effectively destroying a $ 250.00 dollar nib.

If you politely decline their request for your pen, this often leaves colleagues feeling slighted.

This pen was my daily go- to solution that resolved both issues.

I could utilize my fine pen, and if a colleague requested that I loan them my pen, I simply produced this one from my pocket, uncapped it, and handed it over without a second thought.

It\'s irridium nib is flexible enough to be forgiving of misuse, and tends to write well with firm pressure without being damaged by heavier pressure, or if the unthinkable occurs; they drop your pen, the nib is easily and resonably replaced.

So yes, this pen, unlike most of my other pens, was loaned out, yet still maintains a fairly constant ink flow with either regular usage or an occasional quicknib cleaning.

Makes an excellent secondary carry pen and a great alternative for signing questionable surfaces.

A friend even sketched out a drawing on a paper napkin during a lunch break (try doing that with an expensive pen without having to massively clean and unclog the nib and feeder of fiberous material).
