Exquisite Small Cabinet Card, 2 Cyclists, VERY Early Safety Bicycles, 1880s. Two men with their bicycles posing in a studio setting. The bikes seem identical as is the attire of the two men, indicating they may have been part of a cycling club or best friends or twin brothers. Both bikes have leather tool pouches hanging from the top tube. They are wearing what for the day would have been \"THE\" men\'s fashion to wear when cycling. The man pictured on the right has a jacket, or some other clothing or tarp rolled around and strapped to the bike\'s handlebar. The card has a nice \"scalloped\" edge design with \"gold leaf\" edging. The card is printed on obverse lower edge with the photographer/studio name and location: \"Marston, Bangor, Me.\" (The web reveals a photographer, Charles L. Marston [1826-1895], in Bangor who was active the latter half of the 19th century.) Card size is 3.375 x 4.25\"; image size is 2.375 x 3.375\". Overall yellowing due to age.
