If you visualize one of these beautiful black furisode, chances are you\'re going to visualize something that looks a lot like this. This piece is wonderfully classic with all the favored motifs for a wedding. Beautiful spring colors with plum blossoms, pine and wedding carriages. This piece is from the VERY early Showa period; the crests are just a smidge bigger than usual, though some people would argue the house down with me that this is a TAISHO piece. But we\'re looking at 1928-1930 on this baby. :)NOW to the nitty gritty; you\'re seeing what I\'m asking for this and you\'re like WHAT\'S WRONG WITH IT, and almost the whole of it is in REALLY super good condition; you know the usual, a few UV spots, particularly on the cuffs, the middle, one good one on the back of the sleeve. There\'s a few snags on the embroidery, and like when is there NOT snags on the embroidery!? If you collect antique kimono you know what I\'m talking about. There\'s of course the general smudges, see the photos, and then you\'re going to get to this one 4 inch by 4 inch spot where the silk is like \"I\'M OUT!\" This piece at one point has been spot-treated with some dry cleaning solvent or something like it ( it smells like dry cleaning solvent to me ) and it\'s reacted to this very localized place where it\'s been applied and caused that specific painted silk to run for the hills. So, that\'s the big bad on this piece. The rest of it is good. I have tugged on it, pulled on it, held my breath waiting for it to do the sad banana shred and it does NOT. It is just this one spot and it is a BIG cautionary tale to stay the heck away from the dry cleaning supplies with antique kimono.SO with all that said; I am selling this piece at a very low price as display, remake or repair. Can you display it as is? Absolutely. Is this degradation going anywhere? NOPE. It\'s just this one spot; it might flake a little more but it\'s not going to extend into the body. Are you a crafter drooling for some beautiful furisode silk and wanting a no-feel-bad-piece to pick and pull? Yep, this might be your piece too. Could you fix it? Yes; you need to open the seam right next to where the damage is, and you could back it with some cream color silk and use embroidery thread to tack it down and you wouldn\'t see it.
