This is a Super Nice “as found” example of the South Carolina state contract saber. 36” blade has superior “Columbia SC” stamping on ricasso. Sword has all the proper characteristics for Correct Rare & Authentic William Glaze, Palmetto Armory, short ricasso, unique stamp with broken dies, correct scabbard with single pin held throat, cord wrapped wood, leather & wire wrap. A vast majority have poor damaged grips. This example is complete as “attic condition” but make no mistake this is a Battlefield weapon that saw action, but was perfectly taken care of by an owner that understood its importance to his survival. CONDITION: very good overall. Blade is gray, few small nicks in cutting edge, marking is as good as ever found, super attractive chocolate brown patina to brass hilt & pommel, quillon has crack from being bent, grip retains most all original leather but some chipping, wire wrap complete, scabbard is sound, well fit, iron patina.
