I present to your attention: The Desk Medal is dedicated to the city of SLAVUTYCH, a satellite of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the city that replaced the city of PRIPYAT. This city is home to people who work at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant; many of them are participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. The obverse of the medal depicts the coat of arms of Slavutich, this is a French shield with the Archangel Michael and an 8-pointed star, symbolizing the 8 Soviet republics that built the city: Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia. Also on the obverse is the name of the city "SLAVUTYCH" and the year of completion of the city -1988. On the reverse: a symbolic image of the city's railway station and the sign of the atom.Slavutych got its name from the Old Slavonic name of the Dnieper River. This is reflected on the city’s coat of arms in the form of a symbolic image of the river.The item was taken from a private collection. Rare!!! Used. Good condition. There may be minor scratches and scuffs. Made in USSR. Released in 1988. Material: aluminum coated with enamel (light weight). Size: approx. 6.7 cm or 2.6 inches.
