This includes a great six-page inside article entitled "THE MAN WHO LIVES ON LYNCH STREET". (Medgar Evers was slain June 12, 1963. His brother Charles threw over his own comfortable existence in Chicago to hurry to Mississippi to take his place. This is the story of what has happened since that fateful murder day two short years ago, and what life is like now for Charles Evers--a... Civil Rights worker in the deepest part of the Deep South.) This piece is an excellent work at the stresses and strains, the dangers and the reality of civil rights work in Mississippi. It includes stories of Medgar's life and death and the circumstances of Byron de la Beckwith, pampered by the police.Nice article! Nice Photos! There are 2 more photos here, one with Charles and Myrlie at Medgar’s funeral, and another of Medgar & Roy Wilkins being arrested in Jackson, Mississippi… Pageant Magazine in this era is a digest full of photos and articles that touch on themes of the day. This is a wonderful time capsule and measures a little over 5.5 inches X 7.5 inches. It is in nice shape; not mint but quite gently read and a tough find! A great piece FOR THE COLLECTOR!
