CASE XX \"Big Gunboat Canoe\" with Spear Point, Sheepfoot and Spey Blades, Superb Violet/Purple Rogers Jigged Bone Handles (6394 SS)
I purchased this CASE XX \"Big Gunboat Canoe\" pocketknife nearly 20 years ago and it\'sbeen in my collection since. It\'s a large knife with a closed length of 4 ¼ inches and it has 3 blades. The spear point master blade is 3 inches in length.The sheepsfoot and spey blades are each 2 ¼inches in length. The handles are a handsome shade of Violet/Purple. As you would expect from the craftsmen at CASE XX, the Rogers Jigging on the bone handles is very well done. The handle scales have the CASE XX \"Bowtie\" shield on one side. This knife has brass liners and this knife was made in the U.S.A.
You would be purchasing only the knife and a generic Case box. The original box, packagings and paperwork are not included. The wood knife display stands, CASE polishing cloth and the other generic Case box shown in the pictures are not included. Please study the pictures for best description of product and condition.
The date stamp is the 2000 to 2009 Long C with one \"5 x\'s\" and no dots. I interpret this to indicate a production year of 2005. The pattern number is 6394 SS. The \"6\" indicates jigged bone handles. The \"3\" indicatesthat this knife has 3blades. The \"94\" is the Case Pattern Number for the Big Gunboat Canoe. The \"SS\" indicates the blades are the superbCase tru-sharp surgical stainless steel.
I recently cleaned and oiled this knife. Be aware that the blades are a bit difficult to pull out. I assume this is because it has been sitting in my collection for nearly 20 years. The combination of exercising the blades and the oil seem to have improved this issue. This knife has never been used, carried orsharpened. It still has the factory edge. There are some minor smudges and light scratches which just happened on a knife of this age.
I\'m very particular how I ship. As a long time collector, I understand that my fellow collectors want their new treasures to arrive safely. The knife would be wrapped in bubble wrap and put in the generic CASE XX box. This would then be added to a new shipping box with quality packaging materials and sealed with the \"box-lock\" method of taping.
The Big Gunboat Canoe is one of the true classic models of pocket knives and you don\'t see one offered for sale very often. This would be a great addition to your collection of CASE XX knives.
