Small axes like this (similar to Petersen type \"K\" topology) were used by the Vikings in the field and camp as well as a throwing weapon and for close-quarters combat.This version is crafted by Paul Chen at the Hanwei factory and features a forged head with a fire-gray or antiqued finish and a swelled-end hardwood shaft for secure head retention.

Comments:Recommended, but see disclaimer above about throwing. Please see this notefrom sword Manufacturer Guide...It is especially important when buying Paul Chen Hanwei products online to avoid shopping based on price alone,as many of the sellers who stock them at close to wholesale prices are selling seconds or defective items that should have been inspected and sent back to the factory as per Hanwei’s usual policy with their wholesalers.

Based on response from a couple of Buyers I don\'t recommend this axe forthrowingunless you\'re experienced. Notice the oval cross section of the handle, so by design it\'s strongestin the direction it\'s thickest. As long as the axe is in proper orientation when it strikes the target it\'s fine, but it\'s possible for the handle to break if thrown incorrectly! I recommend the Cold Steel hawks for practice. They\'re a little less expensive, even more rugged, and they have replaceablehandles.
