* Circa 1949-50 Illustration Art Postcard featuring the folk-art inspired work of Christian Czech Children's Book Author - Illustrator Marie Fischerova-Kvechova, specifically one of her drawings for her 1916 (first) book, "Nasim Detem" (To Our Children).The image is at once creepy and frightening as is the caption. The picture is of a "Child" Angel Kissing a "Child" Devil - Black Peter while opened-mouth cherubs / putti look on from the floral border.
The caption: "nebe peklo raj kam te duse dam" translates to: "heaven - hell - heaven, where do I put your soul?" and appears to be a warning to be afraid of the influence of the devil and/or mindful of the admonishments of "Zwarte Piet" (Black Pete ... akin to the "warning" predecessors of St Nicholas at Christmas: Belsnickel and Krampus).
There was a disturbing book bearing the same title and authored by one Leonie Ossowski published in 1969 that hijacked and usurped the message presented when the phrase was "illustrated" by the subject artist. So ... the art inspires conversation. What is known is that the once prominent artist's works, which were much sought-after during the interwar years, were banned from publication by the Communist Party subsequent to 1948. The postcards bearing her illustrated works are deemed valuable and it was how her work continued to spread.

As to our "standard operating procedures": Our normal shipping & handling time is three (3) days. We ship weekdays with the exception of US federal holidays. We will ship with either free shipping or calculated shipping ... it depends on the given scenario. Often, calculated shipping will include insurance - again, depending on the item.
