In 1762 settlers from New England came to the Wyoming Valley, but were driven out by the Native Americans. It was not until after the Sullivan expedition in 1779 that families were able to establish a permanent settlement in the Tunkhannock area. In 1842, Wyoming County was created from part of Luzerne County. The name “Wyoming” is derived from Indian word meaning “extensive meadows. Pawchs Laceyville is a borough in Wyoming County with a population of 379 at the 2010 census and a populaion of 479 in 1910. The card is credited to “B.F Michael’, whose name is in the bottom right corner. The card is post marked, 1911 and is in good condition with a small bend on the upper right but minor wear elsewhere. The image is clean but shows its age as does the reverse.
The colors on the images are a more neutral B&W than the scan.Unless otherwisenoted, I use Wikipedia and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible. Corrections appreciated.
