Beautiful Vintage Porcelain Ginger Jar by Toyo of Japan with Red Maple Leaves:

This is a ginger jar with lid, made of porcelain in Japan for Toyo. It is decorated with different shades of a rust colored or orangey red Japanese maple leaves on a porcelain that is a gray shade of white. That is accented by some gray shading behind the leaves. The design gives it an oriental feel. The top of the jar at the opening has a black band that is decorated with a starburst of gold alternating with gold squiggly lines. This design is also around the edge of the lid, that has a few Japanese maples leaves on it too.

The jar is about 5 & 1/2 inches tall with the lid on, and almost 5 inches tall with the lid off. The opening to the jar is 1 & 7/8 inches in diameter, and the lid is about 2 & 1/2 inches wide. The lid rests on the porcelain surrounding the opening. The base of the jar is 2 & 3/4 inches in diameter. It weighs in at about 12.5 ounces.

The exterior of the jar is glazed, except for the rim on the base where the jar rests when put down. The inside of the jar is glazed also. The lid is glazed inside and outside except for the rim. The design is on the outside of the glaze.

The jar and lid are in excellent vintage shape, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Really pretty set.
