Please see my response. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on anddo not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sourcesnot glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions.This piece is genuine amber formed over millions of years of polymerization.

This is a large, 12.7 gram, fully polished and cabochon shaped piece of beautiful Burmite (Burmese) amber from the Cretaceous Period when dinosaurs were on the Earth. This specimen has a group of rarely seen hair strands (possibly plant or animal in origin) along with flies and bivalve seashells. These seashells are the result of bivalve animals drilling into the amber while it was under the sea.

The piece itself weighs 12.7 grams with approximate dimensions of 4.5 cmlength by3.3 cm width and 1.2 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.

Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaursand is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).

Please note that the saltwatertest to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater testclaims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.

However, many ambersources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant)composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense thansaltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My response should helpdemonstrate this.
