Description: This Beautiful 1901 Die Cut Valentine has a Boy bowing to a sweet girl. There are lovely Violet Flowers and Two Hearts tied to some gorgeous gold & white scrolling. A light green ribbon is around the edges on the card. The card is embossed. Used and can stand to be displayed. History of Die Cuts: \"Duringthe Victorian Era (1837-1901), middle-class households would often have afamily scrap album, where the bits of paper collected each day couldbecollagesonto its thick pages.Ticketstubs,brochures,greeting cards, newspaper clippings,paper dolls,postcards, business cards, ribbons,literary excerpts, and eventuallyphotographswereallpreserved on the pages of these memory books.In response tothescrap bookingtrend, 19th-century bookmakers designed blankalbums with elaborate, tooled-leather covers, gilt paper edgings, and engravedclasps. The earliest materials explicitly produced as die-cut “scrap” fordecorating homemade albums were black-and-white, hand-colored etchings. Aslithography processes improved, bright colors, textured embossing, and glossyfinishes were employed to enhance the printed imagery.By the late 1800s,Britain,Germany, and theUnited Stateshad become the leaders in such scrapproduction.
