Here is a large specimen with well formed Barite crystals, from the classic locality in Frizington, Cumbria, England. Arguably the most famous locality for this species in the UK, and an absolute classic. As the accompanied yellowed label indicates, this is an old piece, from well before WWII. Specimens of this ize are not often available. Important to note is one flaw. There is a large crystal broken in the center of this specimen. Had that not happened, then this specimen would have been much, much more expensive. But given the center position, the broken crystal is noticeable, depending on the display position. Please look at the last photo, and you will see the broken crystal in the center. Now, obviously, as the other crystals are in great condition, the best thing for this specimen would be to wither format it into a smaller specimen, or to carefully chip away the broken crystal onto the bottom of the matrix, and therefore "remove" the flaw. I have opted not to do this, as I'm not skilled in this type of mineral formatting, but it needs to be mentioned, as this, look at the photo's, remains a quite impressive specimen which should not be discounted for it's ongoing potential. I received this specimen myself "as is" and was still very impressed with what is there.This specimen is 616 grams, or 1 lb and 6 oz. The size is 5 inch x 3.5 inch x 3 inch.
