$29.99

Neat old real photograph, measuring 4 inches by 10 inches, dating to the mid-1940s. The following article (seeBainbridge Review 1944-06-16 - Bainbridge Review - (oclc.org))appeared in the June 16, 1944 issue of the "Bainbridge Review" newspaper for Bainbridge Island Washington:

LYNWOOD CENTER GARAGE IN NEW SITEWalberg Motor Service was officially open for business this week in its new location at Lynwood Center, across the street from its former site. The new quarters are considerably larger and modern in every detail.Elmer Walberg, Pleasant Beach, proprietor, invited Islanders to stop in and receive a souvenir ration book holder "while they last."Mr. Walberg, long-time resident of the Island and graduate of Bainbridge High School, has been in business at Lynwood Center for almost ten years. He purchased his new site from Hugo Andresen, Pleasant Beach, whose Bainbridge Island garage occupied it for approximately fifteen years.Featuring complete automotive service, Walberg Motor Service offers its patrons general repairing, tires and batteries, accessories, and a modern lubrication system, as well as Standard Oil products.Employed by Mr. Walberg are his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Walberg, Pleasant Beach; Frank Purbaugh, Pleasant Beach, and Vann Bucklin, Ferncliff. Mr. Bucklin will be in charge of the lubrication department, having specialized in this work for several years as manager of a Standard Oil station in Seattle.

The photo shows the Walberg Motor Service on the right side, and on the back is written "Lynwood Building not finished." This came from an old estate in San Antonio Texas. This is a photograph, printed on thin photo paper, and it is not mounted to any type of thicker cardboard. Please see both photos above for condition. Thanks for looking!
