This is one of the most desirable of all Babe Ruth store-model gloves, notable both for its extreme scarcity and aesthetic appeal. It is also the first example we have ever offered, and we cannot recall the last time we have seen another at sale. The glove, which is crafted for a left-handed thrower,(correct one since Ruth was left handed).Pocket stampings consist of the company name “Spalding,” Babe Ruth’s facsimile signature, and the model name: “Home Run Special.” Ruth had an exclusive glove endorsement with Draper & Maynard from 1921 to 1927, but immediately thereafter both Spalding and Reach began production of Ruth-model gloves. The offered glove displays wear but is in remarkable condition given its age and former use. The leather remains soft and supple. In Excellent condition overall.
