Check out this fresh listing. Small wonder folks follow the Golden Fleece. Seeing such unions, one appreciates the lure. Admittedly, it\'s smaller than many rocks you see in this category. Unlike most of those monster \'leaverites\' (meaning - \'leave it right there\'), this one doesn\'t disappoint. It\'s not a rock with golden aspirations, this one actually contains visible gold. I dig these brown quartz rocks; all chocolate-stained and rusty-looking.
Oro (Au) and silicon dioxide (quartz) crystallize inside fissures, faults, and cracks to form gold veins. In many mining districts, rich chunks of rock (and gold) from contact alteration zones break off and slowly begin their march downhill eventually moving far from their source. Considering the Mother Lode\'s extensive range and enormity, most likely the vein this specimen originated from was (or is) part of that auriferous belt. No, you won\'t get your money\'s worth in Au. That\'s because you\'re purchasing a specimen, not bullion and not coinage. Allmy rocks show visible gold and are comprised of100% natural minerals. Checkanyand all Gold of Eldorado response for disputesarisingfrom non-authenticity of the specimens I sell. You won\'t find any.Ideal in nativeminerals with visible gold, notreplicas, not\'paint ons\'.I don\'tpeddle \'simulated\' specimens madewith minute amounts of gold or no real gold at all. No fake nuggets here, folks. I\'ve personallybought stuff thathad gold painted on it. Also purchased here have been \'natural gold quartz\'specimens withtiny chunks of placer goldgluedon. All of my advertised specimens, slabs, cabochons, gold oreset alare authentic and containnative gold and/orare composedalmost entirelyof gold (i.e. gold nuggets, gold flakes, wire gold specimens). The purity of this gold will vary, but if it\'s from California, you can count onthe percentage being fairly high, say 80 to 90% pure. For comparision,a 14Kgold wedding band is 58% pure gold.Theorigin of this small, rich specimen is, perhaps, an undiscoveredveinsomewhere in theSierraNevadaMtns. ofCalifornia.UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH GOLD
If it\'s placer you\'re after, sediments will be your focus and figuring out where the golden strata hides. More often than not, you\'ll leave an area frustrated for no matter how much gold is nearby, it won\'t matter if you can\'t open up promising areas to test them. Do you see what I\'m saying when I talk about access and it\'s many connotations? Deep gravels, vegetation-covered bars, tree-root tangled creek-banks, enormous boulder packs, alluvial fans a hundred feet deep, and high terraces running back into the mountainside defeat the besieged prospector before he even gets started. Even with X-ray vision allowing one to see where the gold was, a person still has to find a way to get paydirt out of the ground. Not that gold isn\'t occasionally found at the surface, it\'s just that ordinarily, it\'s not. It comes from the earth’s interior, so, as it journeys back into her depths, she provides plenty of good hiding spots for her favorite metal.
One time, I watched a friend right from where he was sitting reach down and pick up a seven pennyweight nugget. That\'s all he had to do; look down, spot something unusual on the ground, and pick it up. He walks down the ridge to whereI was working and asks, “Gene, is this gold.” Crazy, huh? No detecting, no digging needed, just sit down, start idly jaw-jacking with this other dummy working his butt off for beans, and pick up a big nugget. There\'s no rhyme or reason for how and why these lightning bolts of luck happen. I had worked this district hard for three winters never managing more than a two pennyweight nugget. Go figure.Generally, gold is buried beneath millions of other leaverites. Prospecting, identifying where the gold is; that\'s your first objective; a durned important one at that. If you follow the earth\'s signposts i.e. rock formations, elevation changes, boulder packs, clay beds, black sand concentrations (and trails), twists and bends in a drainage (high and low), after a while, you\'ll realize there are correlations between where gold settles and these geophysical features scattered around the landscape. After extensive testing in these assorted stratigraphic zones, maybe you\'ll start to figure things out. Other times, you might find gold without having a clue how or why it came to be there. If sampling indicates the presence of gold, at some point, heavy equipment might be required for mining to commence in earnest. On many claims, heavy equipment is essential to perform even the most preliminary testing. On other claims, especially shallow gravel claims, hand sampling and followup mining may get the job done. Someone once told me \"to be a good prospector, you gotta have the eye of an eagle and be able to dig like a gopher.\" They said a mouthful there.

Thanks forchecking out our digs.
