BLOW THE TRUMPET IN ZION - undated but vintage copper hanging ornament celebrating the blowing of the shofar (ram\'s horn) by Jews in ancient times; created for sale in the U.S., which is why it\'s text is in English - \"BLOW THE TRUMPET IN ZION\" at upper left outer edge; in much smaller capital letters at the middle of the right edge \"CHRISTIANS UNITED FOR ISRAEL,\" 3.75 inches high at tallest point, 2.68 inches widest at widest point, bright at front with celar lettering and wonderfully detailed slightly raised images of 6 ancient Jews blowing shofars and a 7 blower in the middle, smlaer, darker by design, and embossed; excellent condition (fully intact, no flaws or scratches, bright at front than back, but the latter is evenly darker which suggests it wasn\'t finished the same way the front was; hanging \"circle\" at the top if you choose to display it that way.
This is a gorgeous metal ornament, likely at least 30 years old, and in great shape. I acquired it at a Glendale estate sale which had a number of Christian religious items, so I suspect the original owner was a member of Christians United For Israel, the group which likely paid for the creation of the item for sale to their members.
Christians United For Israel (CUFI) was founded in 1975 by Protestant minister John Hagee, who remains its chairman.Its stated purpose is \"To provide a national association through which every pro-Israel church, parachurch, ministry or individual in America can speak and act with one voice in support of Israel in matters related to Biblical issues.\" It has more than 10 million members.
I was unable to find an exact match on or any of the innumerable Google-linked collectible sites, so it\'s rare. It has good weight and if a true small piece of art which celebrates the use of the shofar by religious Jews in biblical Judea. It\'s a cool find for either a Jew or a Christian supporter of Israel.
