These minerals are often found in the same deposit and are often intergrown with one another. Azurite is often pseudomorphed to Malachite. This produces a material known as azurmalachite.

Azurmalachite is a blue and green gem material composed of two copper carbonate minerals azurite and malachite. Azurite is a secondary copper mineral frequently found in the oxidized zones of Cu-bearing ore deposits.

azurmalachite also know as “bluebird”

Azurite comes in azure blue, blue, light blue, or dark blue almost black. Azurites pigments were the primary blue pigment used for painting. during the Medieval and Renaissance period

Malachite is green and ranges in colors of pastel green, bright green, dark green, and almost black. Malachite is often banded in appearance, like agates. Malachite does not fade over time or when exposed to light and is easily ground to a powder, making malachite a preferred pigment and coloring agent for thousands of years.

Malachite in its raw form can be toxic. It is a dusty mineral! Handle with care!

Tenorite is a black mineral found in copper deposits with secondary minerals such as azurite & malachite it helps give the dark look to many of these minerals!
