This is a low grade item. It will be complete and readable, but will show significant wear. Allowed defects for this grade include: spine roll, a moderate amount of staining or water damage, writing or other marks on the cover, up to one inch spine splits or other tears, a cover or centerfold that is detached at one staple, discoloration due to oxidation, and a minor piece or pieces missing. An item could be assigned this grade due to either an accumulation of minor/moderate defects or one or two major defects.

Description

Cover pencils by John Buscema, inks by George Roussos. First appearance of the Red Guardian in "Color Him... the Red Guardian!", script by Roy Thomas, pencils by John Buscema, inks by George Roussos (as George Bell); Quicksilver shows everyone his new ability to fly and Captain America has to prove himself to Hercules before he will take orders from him; Hawkeye gets information about the Black Widow's whereabouts, and Hercules and himself travel to rescue her; Meanwhile behind the bamboo curtain Colonel Ling shows a general his newest asset: The Red Guardian; He is to be the equal of Captain America in every way but is to stand for communism. Hercules and Hawkeye attack the complex, but Hercules is lured into the Psychotron and Hawkeye captured by the Red Guardian; Red Guardian is revealed to be the Black Widow's husband who she thought was dead; The Avengers leave to rescue Black Widow, Hawkeye and Hercules. Avengers roll call: Captain America, Hawkeye, Goliath, the Wasp, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch. Guest appearances by Hercules and the Black Widow. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12.
