Art Nouveau French Opaline Hand Blown & Hand Painted Important Old Vase, Rare Important piece.
Excellent, to perfect condition 1844 late Art Nouveau Era Opaline Glass, hand blown, hand painted in a sepia toned manner of a French Church, tree's, river, countryside, bucolic country scene in a old traditional landscape painting style, very rare on glass, also has a nice gold gilding around the rim, as well as decorated gilded base area as well. Important, just discovered old French Vase. Has the distinctive gold script of 44 on base.
A famous painter Jean-Marc Nattier (1685 – 1766), French painter, was born in Paris, the second son of Marc Nattier (1642–1705), a landscape & portrait painter. He is noted for his portraits of the ladies of King Louis XV, as well as continuing in landscapes as his father had done. Old Artistic Family!
This Opaline French Glass Vase has a signature of "Nattier" unknown if it is an actual artistic relative who continued the artistic works in other mediums, or whether the actual painting on the vase is a Nattier Painting that was replicated for this!? Very nicely done, new to market, found important piece!
