Apparel Arts Magazine Fifth Anniversary Edition 1936 Volume VII No. 1-A
THREE VOLUMES IN ONE!!!!!!!!!
volume is essentially three times the page count of regular issue AA volumes! There are hundreds of great advertisements and visuals in this volume. Lots of color and b&w images. There’s quadruple foldouts for the \"Raw Materials Map of the World\" and the \"Portfolio of Dandies.\" This edition celebrates 100 years of the ready-made clothing industry in America and there are stories about the evolution of men\'s shirts, hats, shoes, ties, pajamas, gloves and more. An interesting section called \"The Evolution of Obsolescence\" discusses everything from the evolution of the cotton gin to the cities and countryside of the future. Condition: Covers are in very good condition. Binding tight 349 pages originally . A General Word About Condition …Even though AA volumes have now developed a cult status, remember that these books were trade journals and reference books. They wereintended to be used…thumbed through…a swatch or ad/illustration removed here and there. I’ve only had a few copies in my lifetime that did not have something removed from them ..
I will note the condition and the degree of intactness of each volume. Apparel Arts , launched in 1931, was the forerunner to Esquire Magazine. It was created for menswear industry professionals and retail stores.
The allure of Apparel Arts magazines…hardcover books actually…is driven by the elegant illustrations by Laurence Fellows, Leslie Saalburg, Robert Goodman and many others. Paul Rand, the renowned graphic artist was the art director for Apparel Arts as well as Esquire and Coronet. The sometimes included fabric swatches are also a key ingredient that fuels interest in these great sartorial reference books. And they are getting harder and harder to come by.SO PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES AS THIS IS WHAT YOUR GETTING
