This is a gorgeous old wooden box made from birdseye (bird\'s eye) maple.The wood grain is stunning. The box really has the glow of age.
I researched this box to find out what I could about it. My best estimate is that it dates from between 1900 and 1930.It\'s American and probably comes from the Appalachia region. (I think it has a traditional design that\'s associated with the birth of a child.)
The box measures about 10 3/4\" x 8\" and it\'s about 6 1/8\" tall
Condition:Small surface flaws (scratches, stains, etc.). Nothing that detracts. The box looks great.The lid is a bit top heavy. (The box will tip backwards if the lid is opened and not held.)The lock seems a bit primitive. The key is missing.
