Each measures approximately 3” x 9”.

Handcrafted, stamped, hand made.

Most trench art was made by servicemen to pass the time when not in the front line. Made out of recycled war refuse such as shell casings, spent bullets or whatever came to hand, they open a window to the past. They tell us things like where soldiers went and what their surroundings were like.

Interested in WWI history well then this is a good find. This exceptional WWI 1917 Verdun Art Nouveau Trench was carefully crafted on a Artillery Shell. The Battle of Verdun was fought from 21 February to 18 December 1916. It was the largest and longest battle of the First World War on the Western Front between the German and French armies. The battle took place on the hills north of Verdun-sur-Meuse in north-eastern France. This has been in our store for over 20 years and stored in a display cabinet. It is a beautiful piece of art and equally beautiful piece of history.
