On offer here is a really impressive antique, ceramic, under-the-glaze transferred Victorian \"pot lid\" with a base section. This pattern lid is pretty scarce. In fact, although this design is recorded in the fairly recently completed Big Book, known as \"The Historic Guide to Advertising Pot lids\", it is NOT RECORDED with this extra dark border surround! Even the example which does not have the extra border, does not come up on public sale very often!This one which you have the opportunity to buy, is the UNRECORDED ONE.The transfer is especially eye catching with a fabulous canthus leaf and rosette pattern, which undoubtedly has an art nouveau influence. The advertising print in the center shield is also very stylish with 5 different font styles.The lid measures 3 1/8\" in diameter and the complete jar, with lid astride the base section, stands about 1 3/4\" tall.Just a really super UNRECORDED piece for a collection & the serious collector, or for display in it\'s own right, somewhere strategic in the home!
