BEAUTIFUL AND RARE ANTIQUE VIRGIN MARYWOODEN FIGURE,HAND CARVED AND HAND PAINTED IN LATE BAROQUE STYLE 18th/19th CENTURY

I paid for this unique figure of Virgen Mary to be appraised by the professionals (from the most prominent sale houses), here is their conclusion:

"Figure of the Virgin Mary in late baroque style, 18th/19th century.

Carved of wood and entirely pigmented. Virgin Mary is shown standing. Her arms crossed before Her chest and Her gaze directed down before Her, fitted on a square panel wood.

An endearing figure, likely from a Deposition or Crucifixion group. The pigmentation may have been gone over. Figures of this type were carved for private devotion over the centuries."

There seems to be one bigger hole on the back, one small one on the back of the head (I am guessing that was for the Halo made out of wire) and there is also something that seems like a small nail just above the bigger hole.

Considered how old it is (late 18th/19th century) - it is in a great overall condition - all exactly as you can see in the pictures!

There is no signature, there might be one under the square panel wood she stands on, but I didn't want to risk the damage and taking it off(this panel wood was clearly added years later and crudely screwed in with two modern screws but in a way it actually helps Her not to fall - it is quite stable).

As you can see I like to be really real and transparent about all of the items specifics so you can always know exactly what you are buying.
