This beautiful piece of laboratory treasure is part of a collection from a 100 year old junior college. When the 1930s-era science laboratory building was renovated, many of the \"older\" specimens were parsed out. Though I cannot with certainty date this jar, it must be pre-1967, as the General Biological Supply House closed its doors that year. I would estimate this wet jar to be circa 1950.
This is a beautiful example of a vintage wet jar containing a comparison of Chordate Brains in order of complexity. The samples are in good condition and show a small amount of tissue degradation. An excellent addition to a classroom or general decor.
Please view the pictures carefully. As you can see, all labels are clear and intact, with no evidence of deterioration. The glass jar is original condition with no chips or breaks.
The black seal on top is in excellent condition, with little wear to the black decorative cover seal, as seen in pictures. There is NO break in the jar seal. It is in excellent condition. Photos attest to the generally clear quality of the preservative, with little cloudiness and light tissue sediment present in the bottom.The fluid level is probably original, with no broken seals or loss of preservative. The preservative is likely alcohol for a specimen of this era.
