SilverCrest was the trademark used by the Smith Metal Arts Company that was formed in 1919 by Frederick C Smith, who had been the head salesman for the Heintz Metal Arts Shop founded by Otto Heintz in 1906. After the sudden death of Mr Heintz in 1918, Smith and some other Heintz craftsmen split away and formed this new company.Heintz Metal Art Shop continued until is succumbed to the depression in 1930.
The young designer who worked with Smith Metal Arts at the time wasPeter Muller-Munk, he may be the designer of this vase.This vase stands approximately 11 inches tall, the top diameter is approximately 2 inches in diameter, the base is approximately 2 5/8ths in diameter.The max diameter at the lower half of the vase is approximately 2 1/2 inchesThe vase weighs approximately 1 pound.The vase carries the SilverCrest, Silver Decorated Bronze, stamp and the (Pattern # ?) 2012As well as the stylized lettering SMA Co. in the logo stamp
Issues: This vase is anywhere from 91 to 102 years old, and it has been bumped about a bit.The mouth of the vase is slightly out of round, and there are dimple dents on the bottom curved sides of the vase. (see picture)These dimples could be tapped out by a patient metalsmith.
