Jackfieldearthenware pottery very popular in Victorian age and before. Has aglossy black glaze and handpainted with green ivy trimmed in gold.Decorative applied handle. Very good condition no chips or lines orrepairs no loss of paint. 61/4” high 6”spout to handle Jackfieldpottery is a high-fired, dense and highly vitreous ware that istypically thin-walled. It is usually glazed both on the interior aswell as the exterior. Tracing back to its beginnings in Jackfield.The usual motifs used for decoration were white sprig moldings,flowers and scrolls. Jackfield ware first became popular as drinkingmugs at pubs. Duringthe eighteenth century, Jackfield pottery was also manufactured inseveral other known centers for pottery, such as Staffordshire, byother big names in the history of pottery such as Thomas Whieldon andJosiah Wedgwood. It was Whieldon who was credited with theadvancement of making Jackfield wares.
