Beautiful Antique Victorian Pierced Bronze Dish.
This decorative plate depicts Poseidon or Neptune sitting on an oyster shell holding his trident. The other 3 depict Nereids. Two are riding Dolphins whilst the third sits astride a sea lion.
This attractive dish is more than likely an example that was used by the Coalbrookdale foundry to make similar examples in cast iron.
Dates from about 840-80
Dimensions: Diameter approx. 8 1/4 inches; Height approx. 1 1/4 inches.
Plate has some bends to the shape and a crack to the bronze on the outer edge (*see photos). Does not take away from the beauty of this item. Easy to wire and hang on your wall.
