Antique Victorian Alphabet Verse Cross Stitch Sampler 1843 Sarah Whittaker:

A very beautiful sampler depicting a variety of motifs and floral shapes incliding parrots/pheasents, crowns and butterflies. Extremely well worked in tiny stitches on a cream woven background, with even stitching surrounded by a meandering floral border. Glazed, and presented in the original sympathetic maple veneer wood frame (see photos) with gold slips, approx 56 x 51cm. Minor staining under verse, Colours mostly holding well with minimal fading. A wonderful example with a delightful verse dedicated to her parents, indicating her sincere appreciation of them.
