Antique Swiss Longines Pocket Watch – Tripoli Libya – WW1 Era Italo-Turkish War:

Antique Swiss open-face, stem-wind pocket watch byLongines. In a white metal case, with afoliate side design, and an interesting back panel depicting a patriotic imageof a soldier with sword and flag above the word Tripoli. The flag appears to be a WW1 era Italiandesign, and may relate to the taking of Tripoli from the Ottoman Empire afterthe Italo-Turkish War of 1911. The backisn’t marked for Longines, but is an exact fit for the watch. The movement and dial are stamped forLongines. The watch is in workingmechanical order, and can be wound and the hands can be set – it may need aservice, but ran for 6 hours or so.Cosmetically, there is a chip and portion of the face missing at the 8o’clock mark, with some hairline cracks running across the dial, also. The case is in good condition, though the bowis missing from the crown. The inside ofthe watch back has WE1278 written in pen, as per the photos. It measures approx. 5cm in diameter, notincluding the stem.
