This rectangular porcelain tray was made by Schmidt & Co of Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), probably in the early 1920\'s. The printed mark underneath is a variation of the mark which was in use by Schmidt & Co in the 1920\'s (acknowledgments to Marks4antiques.com). The tray features a transfer print of one of Angelica Kaufmann\'s classical scenes. She was a renowned artist born in Switzerland in 1741, and prints of her works are frequently found on china made during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The other interesting feature of the tray is that the rim isn\'t symmetrical - look closely at the photographs and you\'ll see what I mean!
The tray is 30 cm (12 inches) long and 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide.It weighs 560 grams before packaging.
There are no chips, cracks or crazing, and very light surface wear.
