ANTIQUE SEVRES STYLE ROYAL PORCELAIN

PORTRAIT PROFILE KING LOUIS XIII of FRANCE

Offered in this sale is an antique hand painted Sevres porcelain footed compote or tazza that I believe dates to the 18th century. It is marked on the underside of the base with a blue painted company mark along with a gilt gold crown mark and is also marked LOUIS XIII in red on the underside of the base rim which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image.

It measures roughly 4 3/4" tall x 8 3/4" in diameter. The interior surface of the bowl is decorated with a finely hand painted portrait profile of Louis XIII. It has painted flowers around and on the border set against what I believe is referred to as their Bleu Celeste color background border.

The gold gilt enamel is thick. The condition is good. It has an old very professional restoration to a chip on the edge of the rim which you can see illustrated in the last image.

Otherwise there are no other chips or restoration. Special NOTE: Most likely this is not an authentic Sevres piece, but we are not sure.

If it were 100% authentic, the markings on the bottom would date this piece to the late 18th century. The Sevres double L hallmark with "LF" helps dated it to be a post mid- 18th century product.
