Antique Revolutioinary Period Silhouette Hand Cut Intaglio Bradford Conn. Paper:

Offered is a circa 1770 - 1780 Silhouette of William Bradford from Canterbury, Connecticut. This is a hand cut intaglio silhouette with fine pencil detailing. The mahogany frame appears to be all original with a wonderful surface. Handwritten information on the reverse indicates:

Who he is...

The time period...

Where he is from...

That he had 19 children (11 boys and 8 girls)

The condition is good with mild yellowing and no damage. Measures 5 & 9/16\" tall x 4 & ½\" wide framed.

The Silhouette has no hook or anything to hang it from on the reverse. It is “as is” because more likely than not it was kept off a wall, perhaps on a little easel or in a cabinet.

I would keep it that way. With such a delicate frame you would not want to damage it.

Little easels are plentiful and not hard to purchase.
