Beautiful Antique Vintage 8 Point Star Quilt 80" X 70"480 + Diamond Pieces as each segment of the star has 60 triangles so 60 multiplied by 8 segments!The intersections of the diamond pieces meet perfectly. I am not an expert, but the fabrics look like Depression Era.
The back side is all white with blue edges and the front is the 8 point star in several different colors. There is also a light blue around the edge of the whole quilt on the front.This is an amazing quilt. Purchased at an estate sale several years ago and stored in my quilt closet. Time to find a new home!I'm sorry I don't know what type of stitching was used but I am sure it was hand pieced and hand sewed. The quilt has thin batting.
Condition: Very vintage quilt that shows its age. I am being as upfront and honest as I can be that this quilt has several issues but in my opinion that adds to its charm and story!!There are a few light stains on the back of the quilt- see pic. Looks like someone spilled some soda or something on it. I have not attempted to wash or clean this quilt in any way so it may or may not come off but looks like it will. There are a couple of these same spots on the front (see pic.)There is some greyish spots on the front in a couple of spots (see pic.)The edges of the quilt where the front and back connect together was either not finished or some of the stitchinghas pulled. Also several spots around edges where fabric is wearing out and there are small rips/tears (see pics.)Some of the stitchingaround the center red star has come loose as well (see pic.)Tip- I have hand washed some of my old quilts. I put them in the bath tub with special quilt soap, and let them soak. Then, drain, and add clean water. Repeat until clean.)Email me if you have questions and please view pics before purchase.
