Here we have anAntique P. S. & W. Co. Draw Knife Shave, 11\"L Edge.The PECK, STOW, & WILCOX Co. of Southington, CT(P. S. & W. CO.) operated from 1870 to 1950 and were one of thebest makers of edge tools, as well as other tools. After 1914 they began using the PEXTO ovallogo on their tools. The tool is faintly stamped: P. S. &W. CO. No. 1 EX (stands for \'Grade No. 1 Extra\' = Top grade of steel). This stamp therefore dates the draw knife to beingmanufactured pre-1914. The maker\'s mark is near the left corner of the spine, and \'11 IN.\' is stamped near the right end.The shave is inGood \'used tool\' condition with wear to the finishes.The original hardwood handles have good metal ferrules and metal end caps with preened-over tang tips to hold the handles nice and tight. One handle has a stable crack that does on effect the tightness of the handle. There is the typical minor corrosion marks on the metal surfaces.The cutting blade edge is 11 in. long and is approx. 3/4\" deep as measured from the top of the spine. The edge is sharp, and has a couple of nicks, but new owner should check before use. Overall tool length is approx. 17.5\". Please review the pics to confirm condition !
