Please thoroughly look through photos prior to making your purchase as they are part of the item\'s description.Here is arare piece of Hotel China from the Iver Johnson Johnsonia Building in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.The five story building was built in memory of Iver Johnson by his widow, Mary Spiers Johnson. Construction began in 1896 and the building was complete in 1898. Built by Terrell & French, the building was one of the largest in the city. The upstairs hotel dining rooms were luxurious. Furnishings included rose armure brocade draped windows, Turkish rugs on gleaming wooden floors, and rococo frescoes in the main hall. Called the Johnsonia, the Hotel became associated with prominent members of society and the place to have important gatherings back in the day. It is rumored that in 1902, Teddy Roosevelt stopped in The Johnsonia during his visit to Fitchburg. The Johnsonia was converted from rental units to luxury condominiums in 2004. It underwent recent renovations and tragically caught fire and was badly damaged the summer of June 13, 2011. The Johnsonia has since been condemned and has been demolished.
