Up for sale is a neat vintage or antique carved wood plaque. Masonic with a bunch of their imagery and symbols. Signed and dated 1958 on the back. Made by O.M. Shattuck. Although I can't tell if its supposed to 1908 or 1938. I found some O.M. Shattucks but they wouldn't line up with the 1958 date. It looks older than 1958 to me. Good oxidation and surface. But that might have happened if it was stored in a dry, hot attic since 1958 too.It came from the Saginaw Michigan Masonic Lodge. I see that the Shattuck name appears all over Saginaw.The carving is really great. Relief carved from a single piece of wood. Loads of neat symbols including the double eagle, crescent moon with sword (including a face over the moon), two pillars or columns on the sides, the compass and square, star, and a viking looking face. 4 colors of paint although mostly the black and gold. A really cool looking carving. The carver had some talent. Beaks of eagles are metal.
About 13 and half inches tall and 9 and 1/8 wide. See can for scale.
Condition:All original condition. No breaks. No repairs. No repaints. Good surface. Some minor wear. Nothing distracting. Displays well. Some black paint is worn off on the back board. The edge of the sword looks jagged but I dont think its a break. I think that is how it was made. Paint on it looks the same as the rest of the board. The black paint looks consistent across the top of the board, so I dont think any was added. See photos and video to determine condition.
