The album speaks to a long forgotten time---and the antique photographs narrate those contemporary moments in time, mood, and subject. A few of Paris, ocean liners (including an interior), and various European locations the owner\'s traveled. it\'s a nice piece of Americana and a great little slice of history. The album\'s approximate size is 9\" x 13\", with 32 pages to include a combination of original photographs with some post-cards. Commercially marketed photographs are crisp black and white, others (taken by the travelers themselves) lean toward an aged sepia. Postcards and other paper vary from color to sepia in tone. Of the 32 pages, ten were never used by the original owner; 22 have photographs or cards mounted on both sides. Subjects include famous graves (Beethoven & Schubert), their homes, specific historic locations, castles, ships, cathedrals, an abby. or two with other ruins, a stop at Edinburgh Castle, etc. There is also small photograph of the RMS Mauretania,three cards from a trip on the Empress of Britain in 1931 (and photographs---including one of the captain), Monte Carlo, Vienna, etc.
For you history buffs...there\'s something about looking through an object left by a living soul who traveled to distant lands and brought back visuals to mark that journey. A century has passed and times have changed drastically. But for a few moments when I carefully go through the pages in this scrap album, I\'m reminded of a simpler time when we all still had hopes for a better future.
