Item Description

Here is a nice Antique Joseph Zentmayer Microscope for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself!

Nice Antique Joseph Zentmayer Microscope. Does come with the original wood carrying Case. Zentmayer was a very prominent microscope maker in Philadelphia, PA. The base has a serial number of 858 on it that would date the piece to the early 1870s. Looks like the United States Army Hospital Monocular Microscope model from what we have researched online.

Comes with lots of lenses for the microscope, a Gilbert Electric Substage light (no guarantee that bulb lights), and a vintage Bausch & Lomb microscope manual.

Cannot state if the pieces on the microscope body, lenses, case, etc. are original to the microscope or not. Selling the items as we found it. What you see in the pics is what you are buying. Cannot speak to the condition of the glass on the lenses. Would expect scratching and finish loss with the microscope being around 150 years old. The body of the microscope hinges which is not a common feature with microscopes.

This fine antique microscope is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end sale house or gallery, as we have been selling collectibles out of our home for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don\'t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries experience.

Knobs seem to all move to make focus adjustments. Some loss of finish and patina and minor scratching to the brass finish.

The wood case is missing the bottom slat on the front door and a little bit of the middle section, see pics. Comes with a wood drawer that the lenses and other accessories are stored in. Lock is on the case, no key.

The microscope is about 16\" tall with the lenses down to viewing platform. 6.5\" across, by 7\" wide. The carrying case is 17\" long, by 8-5/8\" wide, by 7.5\" tall.Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. We take great pride in is our wrapping to ensure that yourorder is safely shipped to you. Youmight find our shipping costs higher than other sellers, but it is due to theextra time, packing care, and materials we utilize. Of over 900 packages shipped last year, wehad only two items with issues, a 99.8% damage free delivery rate. Keep in mind, we are not shipping soft goods, like shirts orpants. We are shipping vintage/antique items that are fragile and requirespecial care.

We also obtain insurance on any item that was bought for $50or more, and require signature on delivery for items that are valued at over$200. Plus we have to pay the 11.75% ofthe final value and shipping fees that and PayPal charges.

Returns Policy

Returns are accepted by seller within 30 days of receipt of item where an item is not as described. The Buyer will be assessed a 15% restocking fee of the Item and Shipping Cost should they decide to return this item for whatever the reason.
Please note that a restocking fee is charged toto cover costs related to the loss of listing time and other potential sales, plus the amount of care and time that goes into preparing our unique and fragile items for shipping.
