This antique serving plate or platter is made of Royal Vitreous Pottery by John Maddock & Sons, England. This lovely rectangular platter is 17" x 11-1/2" in size. It is creamy white with soft brown fans & leaves. The sides have a ripple design under the brown floral. The trademark on the back was used from 1880-1896.This platter is in good vintage-age condition. The front does have very light usage scratches and several dimples from the pottery process. The back has three rust spots (each rust spot is approximately 1/4" in diameter and seem to be the pottery mold marks - they are symmetrical) as well as several other small spots and wear marks. This platter is large and very heavy (weighs over five pounds).
