Large ornate & spectacular gilded bronze French Jardiniere , dating from circa 1870-80- It is Napoleon III in style.

This is heavy (3.5 kilos /7.7lbs)intricately cast with trailing ribbons, bows, roses and the crossed quiver and eternal flame- all classic French Napoleonic styling - It has exceptionally fine & lavish scrolling handles.

The amazingly rare aspect of this beautiful Jardiniere is that it has the original rich raspberry coloured Majolica lining - we have never, ever come across one before- what is more - the liner is in superb condition. This has clearly been a treasured piece.

We have lightly cleaned this but not over cleaned -

It is signed twice on the base - DEPOSE 765 (Depose signified a patent protected design)

Condition - Excellent antique condition- No damage to the liner or the bronze.- There is rub to the gilding and areas where it has worn away - but overall the colour is good.
