Antique German Military Regimental Beer Stein Royal Bavarian 12 Inf.Rgt. New Ulm c.1899-1901

Description: Original regimental (Reservisten) stein c.1901. Belonged to Gefreiter (PFC) HJoh.Salfner of 9.Company of the 12 Bavarian Infantry Regiment named after Prince Arnulf stationed in Neu-Ulm in 1899 - 1901. New-Ulm (New Ulm) is a town in Swabia, Bavaria - very close to the city of Ulm in Wurttemberg. Prince Arnulf was the son of Prince Regent Lutpold of Bavaria, and one of the famous Bavarian military generals.

Made of hard porcelain with lithophane in the bottom showing a portrait of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The body of the stein is molded with relief bumps decorated as oak acorns representing the Germanic heroism. The front scene shows a mounted soldier leaving his home and saying farewell to his sweetheart. The side pictures show scenes of everyday military life.

Magnificent figural lid with a glass prizm inlay presenting another portrait of King Ludwig II, and Heraldic Lion for the thumblift representing the Kingdom of Bavaria.

The stein is in excellent condition.

It is 9\" tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
