Antique German Porcelain Leopard Cats Two Kittens Playing. Gold Chelsea Mark:

The set of cut spotted cats or leopards come in a set. Unfortunately there is damage to both. One has had his leg glued back in and the other has a repair the base. The colors are bright and intact and each are signed with a small gold anchor.

German porcelain from the late 1800s to early 1900s. The gold mark, which is supposed to resemble an anchor is a pseudo mark. The anchor mark was used by Chelsea of England beginning in the 1700s, and was used again by German factories about 100 years later. Anything done well was always copied over and over again. These are often called German Chelsea porcelain figurines, and sometimes they are marked Germany on the base, as well as the gold Chelsea-style anchor, often on the top of the foot somewhere. These may have been used as prizes at fairs, they do resemble Victorian Fairings, that were mostly made by German companies. They made porcelain figurines and trinket boxes, some with clever phrases and sayings, to be given away at fairs in the 1800s and into the 1900s.

Hand painted porcelain with gilt gold rim.

The figurine is from the 19th century or possibly before and bears the iconic Chelsea anchor mark.

These antique kittens are not in perfect condition and have flaws but considering age and the delicate material they are in fair condition.
