This is the earliest and true example of a lead german Christmas ornament with flowers inside Circa 1860s. I have seen some similar examples but not as old as this piece. The ornament is handmade and shows the very early craftsmanship of this particular piece. This was purchased nearly 40 years ago from a private collector, and I have been slowly selling these exceptional pieces over the past few years. The ornament has some areas of curling of the lead, which is fairly common considering the nature of how soft lead reacts over the years . The ornament is very ornate and is simply beautiful. The dried flowers speaks for the age as you will not see this in later examples. I will be selling the rest of this incredible collection in the next few weeks that are all in very nice condition.
